We are looking for a German speaking credit analyst to join our EU-Based Financial Institutions team. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and collaborative team culture and contribute to the success of the largest EU based rating agency.

You will be responsible for monitoring your own portfolio of solicited and unsolicited bank and non bank financial institutions ratings, as well as assigning new ratings as Scope’s coverage grows. You will be the subject matter expert on your coverage, representing the team and Scope vis-à-vis issuers, investors, regulators and the media and regularly produce research to bolster Scope’s brand recognition.

Your tasks & responsibilities

  • Conduct ratings and research on a portfolio of European financial institutions
  • Lead rating committee discussions, being responsible for rating recommendations and communication with issuers, investors and journalists
  • Monitor existing ratings and recommend reviews and changes on a timely basis as necessary.
  • Produce high-quality, insightful and forward-looking research and analytical comments on a timely basis (thematic, name-specific, market-specific, etc.)
  • Attend, and act as a lead rating analyst on meetings with bank representatives, including senior management.
  • Be able to represent Scope Ratings expertise to investors and other market participants, as well as give presentations and briefings at a highly professional level.
  • Contribute to the development of Scope’s methodologies

Your professional & personal profile

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience in the field of bank credit analysis, gained in a credit rating agency, bank or buy side institution.
  • Excellent familiarity with numbers and accounting concepts applicable to banks (IFRS and other systems as necessary), as well as with financial and prudential ratios and other metrics relevant for bank analysis. Good understanding of EU bank regulations and banking-industry trends.
  • Extensive knowledge of bank debt instruments and their characteristics.
  • Proven ability and willingness to write high-quality and insightful research and comments on a timely basis with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and German. Other European language are a plus
  • Proficient use of Office applications, including MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Expertise in PowerBI is considered a strong plus.
  • You are intellectually curious, analytically rigorous and a keen interest to take ownership and responsibility of multiple projects under tight deadlines that involve both independent and team work
  • You have a confident and professional appearance and high social and communication skills
  • You stay cool under pressure, are accountable and reliable and display the highest professional integrity
